5) The Meeting Location

We will meet at the faculty of medicine of the University of Strasbourg (see map or aerial photograph on the EOU conference homepage at http://www.eou.at). This building complex is 10-15 minutes by foot from the main railway station, the centre of Strasbourg and the area where most hotels are.

On the pages of the Université Louis Pasteur (also linked from the EOU conference page) there is travel information available (please click on "Medical campus") which gives you further information about travelling by car, train or airplane to the conference location.

If you need an invitation to get a visa for France please contact our French local organisers. Unfortunately, I cannot issue an invitation to France from Germany, so this has to be done by the French colleagues.

Invitation Letters (posted 27 April 2005)

Those of you who need invitation letters to get required visa please contact the head of the local organising committee of the EOU conference soon. To be accepted by the French embassies these invitation letters need to be sent from a French host and cannot be issued by me from Germany. Contact: Yves Muller y.muller@ac-nancy-metz.fr

6) Lunch and Dinner

Lunch will be served at the "restaurant universitaire Pasteur" which is 5 to 10 minutes walking distance from the meeting hall. Each meal will compose of a first course, a main course, a cheese and a dessert with water, wine and coffee. It is possible to have a meal without meat (with vegetables, fish) each day. If you want to use this option please indicate it clearly on your registration e-mail!

In the evening of 24 August we will have an informal "conference dinner" together in the Restaurant Pax, 24-26 rue du Faubourg National at Strasbourg. This is nearby the meeting location.

The EURING board generally decided that grants for travelling to the EURING general meeting can be given to participants from low income countries. More details about this will be available in April.

Support for travel costs (posted 27 April 2005)

The EURING board agreed to offer a fixed amount of 3000 Euro to support those schemes who will have difficulties in covering the travel and registration costs for the EURING General Meeting. A maximum support of 375 Euro per Scheme is possible. Applications from the schemes must be sent to me before 15 May 2005. If the sum of money applied for is larger than 3000 Euro the board will have to decide upon the acceptance of applications. Notifications about the acceptance will be sent out early June giving you 3 remaining weeks until the early registration deadline.

Applications must contain the name of the scheme and a rough estimation of the total costs: travel costs, housing in Strasbourg (max. between 23 and 26 August), EURING conference fee. The money will be reimbursed in cash in Strasbourg (copies of tickets and coupons about all costs must be handed in there). Please indicate, if this procedure will cause a problem to you, so that we can find another solution.

Please remember the deadline for applications (15 May!) and do consider that we will be able to support more schemes if you do not apply for the full sum of 375 Euro but only for a part of it. Unfortunately the upper limit of 3000 Euro for the support of all schemes cannot be raised. For this reason we also cannot support any costs resulting from a participation in the EOU conference directly before the EURING meeting (EOU conference fee or meals or housing during the EOU conference). The board principally tends to give preference to EURING member schemes before guest representatives of other schemes.

Hope to see you all in Strasbourg.

Secretary of EURING
